Let's Play Star PowerLet's Play Star Power:

It’s as easy to set up the game, as counting your fingers.  Choose the number of players or teams (one to four).   Next choose the number of stars you want on the board.  Select from four to twenty-four, depending upon the number of players and the length of the game you prefer.   Next pick the number values that you want for your stars.  For this you can choose from the built in choices OR input your own values.  Now you can choose from zero to four Double Bonus Stars that you want in the game.  Next you can select from zero to four Black Holes for your game.  Black Holes take away points from the contestant who select them.  Both Black Holes and Double Bonus stars are put in at random; even the operator doesn’t know when they will appear.  You can change the names of the contestants if you wish.  Now you are ready to start the game by clicking on Skip the intro (to go right to the game) or Play the Game which will start the game right after the intro.

At this point you can either choose a player to go first or let the computer choose at random. Once the player is selected the contestant will pick the star that they want to “bank”. The operator simply clicks on the number that was chosen and the star moves up to that players “bank”. Now the fun really begins! From this point on, the players go in order and choose their favorite remaining stars until all available stars are off the board. There are many different ways to play the game, see game play scenarios below for ideas. The Double Bonus Stars add to the excitement by adding the thrill of extra points, and Black Hole Stars insight the agony of losing points when they are picked.

There are four “Logo Screens” that allow you to splash the screen as you wish anytime during the game.   You can show the available point values for the remaining stars at any time as well.   Don’t forget, the Star Power game runs with the GSS-10 controller and GSS-4 full size or compact player positions OR free standing with just a computer….the choice is yours.

Game Play Scenarios:
Star Power played as a game of chance: After the star is selected by the contestant, the star that has been picked appears full screen to the audience. On the operator screen after the star is selected two buttons appear (Play and Pass). The operator simply pushes the Play button and the points hidden within the star are added or subtracted (in the case of a Black Hole) to/from the contestants’ score.

Star Power Trivia: After the star is selected by the contestant, the star that has been picked appears full screen to the audience. On the operator screen after the star is selected two buttons appear (Play and Pass). At this point the host can ask a trivia question. If the contestant answers correctly, the operator selects the Play button and the points are added (or subtracted if Black Holes are being used). If the player answers incorrectly, the operator would push the Pass button and the point value behind the star is revealed but is NOT added to the score of the contestant.

Star Power Mixer: After each contestant has picked their star to bank. The stars are picked by either an opponent or someone in the audience. The star that has been picked appears full screen for the audience. On the operator screen after the star is selected two buttons appear (Play and Pass). Now the contestant chooses whether they want to Play or Pass. Keep in mind that when you set up the game you can put in up to 4 Black Holes which subtract points. Of course the audience will "chime" in, increasing the suspense even more. If the player chooses the Play the points are added (or subtracted) from his or her score. If the player chooses to Pass the points are shown but the score stays the same.
